It’s hard to believe that it’s been one year since our move to JAARS! Looking back, we’re amazed at how much God has grown and stretched us over this past year. Time and again, He has reminded us of His faithfulness—showing us that He will provide and teaching us to trust His plan, even when it feels both scary and deeply fulfilling.
As we’ve reflected on the work God has called us to, we felt it was a good time to share a little more clearly about our ministry work, what it means to be one of our ministry partners, and how you can join us in this journey.
Even though we serve at JAARS, the work of MicroBible Portals (MBP) is something that God placed on Brenton’s heart separately. MBP grew out of a desire to use modern technology to help mission organizations share Biblical content (of any language) freely in places where that’s not always safe or easy to do.
Now that the MBP system is up and running and being used by three ministries, Brenton has continued to improve the app based on user feedback and has been training these ministries/missionaries on how to use it effectively. Our ongoing goal for MBP is to provide the app, training, and ongoing updates completely free of charge to all our partner ministries—both current and future (2 Timothy 3:17; 1 Corinthians 9:18).
While serving at JAARS is separate from MBP, it has been a crucial factor for our MBP work. The most important reason we’re here is because God led us here—and He hasn’t told us to leave. For over two years, the Director of IT position at JAARS went unfilled. During that time, God began stirring in Brenton’s heart a longing to use his skills for the Kingdom, drawing inspiration from Jeremiah 10:14–16.
He was reminded of Huram-Abi in 2 Chronicles 2:13–14, who was praised for his craftsmanship—not for the work itself, but because it was used to create something holy. In that same spirit, Brenton felt called to take the skills he once poured into his career and invest them in God’s Kingdom instead. God has opened that door through his volunteer position in the JAARS IT Department, where Brenton now has the privilege of mentoring, equipping, and encouraging others who are also using their technical gifts to serve God’s mission.
Volunteering at JAARS has also given us valuable insight that helped shape MBP and provided the key connections needed to bring it to life. We can clearly see how God’s provision inspired MBP through Brenton's work at JAARS and how his work at JAARS has uplifted MBP.
When we talk about ministry partners, we mean friends who walk alongside us through prayer, encouragement, and faith. Ministry is never something we do alone—it’s something God does through His people working together.
Your prayers, messages, and support mean more than we can express. You remind us that we’re not serving in isolation, but as part of the Body of Christ, united in purpose.
Right now, we’re in a season of trusting God for financial partners in addition to our prayer partners, so that we can continue serving full-time. Both JAARS and MBP require our full attention, and we’re praying for the resources to keep developing and offering these tools freely to others in ministry and our time freely to JAARS.
Our goal is to raise $5,000 per month (or $60,000 per year), and we’re asking the Lord to help us reach 50% of our monthly funding (recurring monthly donations totaling $2,500) or 50% of our yearly funding ($30,000) by January 1, 2026. Currently, we are 9% funded monthly and 32% funded toward our $30,000 goal, and we’re trusting Him to provide the rest in His perfect timing as we continue to ask, seek, and knock (Matthew 7:7).
We deeply believe that God has called us to this work—and we’re confident He will provide through His people. If the Lord places it on your heart, would you prayerfully consider joining us as a financial partner?
Your partnership would allow us to continue serving full-time and help ministries around the world share the Good News of the Gospel discreetly and effectively. And if you feel led, would you also pray about sharing our ministry with your church, small group, or others in your circle who might be interested in partnering with us?
More than anything, we ask that you seek the Lord’s guidance in what it looks like for you to partner with us. We trust that as each of us listens to His voice, He will bring together exactly the team He intends—for His glory and the spread of His Word.
Updates
Discipleship
Brenton has been discipling a young man named Peyton from our church, Southbrook Church, who is beginning his own ministry journey. You can even hear Peyton’s story on the Building f.a.i.t.H podcast. Please pray for him and his family as they step into this calling, and for God to bring more men into Brenton’s discipleship group—men hungry to grow in faith and live rooted in God’s Kingdom.
On my side, I’ve recently started meeting with a new mentor through Southbrook’s discipleship program. I don’t yet have women I’m discipling, but I’m praying for God’s perfect timing—that He would connect me with women eager to mature in faith and spur one another on towards love and good deeds.
For both Brenton and me, these are the beginning of God answering our prayers for being discipled and being a discipler.
MicroBible Portals (MBP)
Before the end of September, Brenton released version 1.3 of MBP! Some new features include a refreshed directory interface, a new Script UI, an FAQ page, and the ability to generate QR codes for all IP addresses on the user's phone.
The next focus is on creating clear and simple training videos for ministry partners. Please pray for wisdom and clarity as Brenton develops these so they can serve our partners effectively.
In late September, Brenton also returned from Finland, where he attended a conference for Muslim Background Believers. There, he connected with leaders from Christian Vision Global and began plans to test MBP in new countries starting in 2026. This trip also opened doors with Communio Messianica and other ministries working to reach those in Muslim-majority regions. Please pray for these ministries—Communio Messianica, Al Hayat, and Christian Vision Global—as they continue to share the hope of the Gospel in challenging locations.
JAARS
JAARS Day, an annual fundraising event for JAARS, on October 25th was such a blessing for the organization. While we personally were not able to partake or volunteer in the event due to sickness, there were so many people who visited the campus to learn how JAARS helps get the Gospel to the far corners of the world.
Please pray for JAARS and SIL (a Bible translation partner organization) as we continue to unify our transportation operations in Papua New Guinea and Cameroon, and as we explore opportunities in Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, and the DRC.
A special shoutout to the IT and Engineering teams for installing a new High Frequency antenna that now enables radio communication between the JAARS campus and PNG!
Since August, God has brought four new volunteers to the IT department—bringing the team to 32 people! Brenton is leading efforts in several major projects, including:
Addressing the hardware shortage of Windows computers
Updating the enterprise system for international operations
Launching a new donor & donation portal
Upgrading campus WiFi
Sending IT staff to PNG for on-site support
Building a new e-commerce solution
Expanding HR and property management systems
Please pray that God would give Brenton the wisdom to lead this growing team with grace, clarity, and a Kingdom mindset.
Fall has finally arrived here in North Carolina! Seeing the change of seasons through the eyes of a three-year-old has been such a joy.
Anastasia started at a Christian preschool in September and is blossoming! This was an answered prayer—registration had closed in May, but when I inquired at the end of August, one spot was still available in the exact class we’d hoped for. She also started dance classes, which she absolutely loves (though when she has both on the same day it makes for one very tired little dancer!).
Theodore and I have been enjoying extra one-on-one time while big sister is at school. He’s not walking yet, but he’s always on the move. He loves playing “Up! Down!” (or as he says, “Uhh! Doww!”), blowing kisses “bye”, roaring like a dinosaur, driving in his play car, and reading books.
In September, our family was able to take a refreshing getaway to Williamsburg, Virginia—a time of rest and renewal that we truly needed. We explored Colonial Jamestown, enjoyed Jamestown Beach, made a day trip to the Virginia Beach Aquarium, and connected with one of Brenton's friends from deployment and his family. And of course, the kids couldn’t get enough of all the fun in the hotel pool!
We were especially thankful that Brenton’s mom was able to join us during her visit that month. The kids were overjoyed to have Grandma along, and it filled our hearts to watch them make such special memories together. Her visits are always a gift.
And a personal praise—my limited driving privileges were approved in mid-September, with my only restriction being that I have to drive a vehicle registered in my name. This came just two weeks before Brenton’s trip to Finland and Anastasia’s first day of preschool. God’s timing is always perfect.
We’re so thankful for each of you—your prayers, messages, and encouragement remind us that we’re not walking this path alone. Thank you for being part of our team and for helping us equip others to carry God’s Word to places where it’s needed most.
With grateful hearts,
Brenton, Nicolle, Anastasia, & Theodore
